  • [ANNOUNCEMENT] ATTN: Any TG Members with website design/background - help needed

    Greetings my fellow TG'ers,

Many of you know me from the BF2: Project Reality and Arma I video games, as much as I have tried to make gaming a career, I have since playing and belonging to TG have been involved with a start up internet phone/database type company called Bermlogic (www.bermlogic.com). Currently we are going through a restructuring phase of sorts and are looking for experienced/interested people to help re-shape our website. I suggested that what better place to receive feedback and possible support was to post here at TG since many members have a background in this type of area.

Take a look at the website, it does need work, and your suggestions and comments are very much warranted in general and please inquire if you are interested, a resume would be very helpful and you will be compensated (not through pay pal) if hired. - Please feel free to PM me through TG, I will give you my work email in a reply PM.

I know that this forum might not be the best area to go about posting something regarding this, and it is not intended to take away from anything that TG Promotes in any sort of way.

    Thank you for your time,

Tim aka Randy aka Bob aka Magnum.P.I.

Delta, is this a static site?

If so, any interest/plans to move over to a CMS (example: Wordpress)?

No interest at this time to move over to wordpress, mostly due to keep it as a business oriented site for both mobile/desktop versions. Moving it towards a wordpress type version could hinder its ability to be taken seriously at least in the eyes of my bosses.

Randy, you may want to point your bosses to these: http://thatgamecompany.com/ or http://www.bedford-hotel.co.uk/
        Both are powered by WordPress.

But I think Acreo was more about recommending a content management system over a set of static pages. WordPress just happened to be the CMS example he used. Personally, I'm partial to MODx, which I've found a pleasure to work with and a very powerful tool overall. Here's their site gallery.

Will check it out. Currently we are actually just looking for someone to help upload the new content that I along with someone else will be writing up. As of now we are keeping the current layout. The site needs tweaking, I have checked out the Wordpress.org site and did mention it again to my boss but there was no real interest.

I must admit that I'm confused as to what skillset you're seeking. You say in the original post that you're looking for experienced people who would help re-shape the website, but now you're saying you simply need help uploading content and you'll be keeping the current layout.

Could you give a bit more detail on what the company's goals and are for the site and the timeframes for achieving these goals?

              Check your PM's.

Also, yes I have posted several things, but just stick with my original post. We are seeking someone who does have website design background who can help us in reshaping our website as well as someone who has experience in this, and with the uploading of new content.

To anyone else who is interested please PM me, I cannot go into details regarding timetables, etc. I do apologize for being vague but please check out the website, and if you are interested and or if you have any feedback regarding the website post it here, but serious inquiries please PM me and I will give you my work email so we can converse further, and I can pass your resume/info and suggestions to my boss where we can work on all the details etc.

              Thank you.

Re: ATTN: Any TG Members with website design/background - help needed

the first thing I would do is make the banner rotate images. It makes a static page much more engaging, and keeps new visitors on your page for those few extra critical seconds.

second, there is no explanation of what your product actually does on the main page, other than the overly business-esque text description. maybe a graphic (the one on the 'more' page is too cluttered I think) or better, video. Dropbox, google, skype, ebay, vmware, ubuntu, apple, etc.... they are all massive, but are more casual with their communication. dropbox in particular - has an awesome product, but has kept the site very simple while remaining very powerful.

there is no skype or email address. There is no contact form. there is no pricing model. and if there were, there is no way to pay. what about downloads or printable pages?

HERE is my site. It is for my church, and I built it from scratch. the entire page is one picture, and it is controlled completely with css / php / js. I have many clones of it HERE, HERE, and HERE are a few examples.
