  • [GUIDE] New Teamspeak for Android

    Requires an Armv7 device

    Download link

The Android client is not available in the Google Play store yet but instead is provided as a direct apk download. This means that you have to modify your phones security settings in order to be able to install the application.
Once the open beta is over the TeamSpeak application will be available in the Google Play store and you can revert the setting.

Make sure your phone meets the system requirements:
-You need a phone with at least an ARMv7 CPU (hardware FPU required).
-Your device needs to be running at least Android 2.3.3
-CPU Speed of at least 800Mhz
-Your device needs to have the Google Play Store installed.
-Wireless or at least 3G connection is advised (you may experience odd behavior due to packet loss otherwise)

Go to your system settings and then choose "Security" (Android 4.x) or "Applications" (Android 2.x) and check the "Untrusted Sources" option to allow installation of applications not received through the Google Play store.

Once you install the APK, open up the new Teamspeak and check for any new updates, this is done by pressing the reload symbol in the top left of the program, I had a 2mb patch.

    Importing permissions is easy.

Export your permissions from your PC by:
    1. Clicking settings/identity
    2. Click on your identity you want to export and click export.
    3. Save the .INI file on your desktop
    4. Either plug in your device and drag and drop it to a folder or email it to yourself and save it using a program such as ``DOWNLOAD ALL FILES`` from the play store.

    On your device :
1.open up Team speak and click the top right icon on the home page.
This will give you several options, click on identity.
    2. In identity's click on the very bottom icon in the center and you should be able to see your .INI file to import. If you can't see it it will return the error ``cannot find .INI file. If this happens.

    1. Go to play store and download ``File explorer``
    2. Using that program navigate to your .INI file and cut and paste it into the TEAMSPEAK folder. It should now work.

    To add TG server.
    1. Click new bookmark
    2. Give it a label ie. TG
    3. Server is TS.TACTICALGAMER.COM:9988
    4.PW is blank
    5. Make sure you select your newly imported identity( mine was called default, not android default).

Hmm, interesting. Is it possible for me to set up some sort of PTT with my phone or BT headset?

yes the new TS supports BT headsets with voice activation.

You can use a BT headset with PTT but only the PTT from within the app, i havent found a way to set it as anything else.

I tested an old PS3 BT headset and the mic worked fine, the sound was borked but. i also tested just a normal music BT headset and the voice sounded fine, so it must be a PS3 headset issue with the sound.

I am going to try this later today. I never liked the way the old TS worked on my phone. Will report any issues or lack thereof when I'm done.

So that was one if the easiest setups I've had for my phone yet. I wasn't able to test out how the sound quality is but the mic was picking up my son from across the room. It will be interesting to try using this when there are more people online.

Okay, I can connect. It seems to be working, just need to find someone who's on to test with. :p

Edit: Found Troublesome4u to test with. It works and he can hear me. Since I like to see who's talking, I should probably use my BT headset instead in the future. Trouble said I sounded "weird". Guess my headset mic is better than my phone's mic?
