  • First time PC Builder (2nd Post on this topic)

Hey everyone. So, I know I have already posted about me trying to build my first PC. Back then I was looking for recommended hardware and what to buy, but now I am looking to see if I should change anything or if this setup will work. I want to make sure I have a big enough power source as well. So here it is as of right now.

Tower - COOLER MASTER Elite 431
    ASUS 24X DVD Burner
Western Digital WD Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM
CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-650TX 650W (Not sure if enough power, if not, any suggestions that wont break the bank?)
    ASRock Z77 Extreme4
    COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus
    SSD - SAMSUNG 840 Series
    G.SKILL Sniper Gaming Series 16GB (4 x 4GB)
    Intel i7-3770K
    GPU - AMD Radeon 7970

I hope I didn't miss anything. My list is a bit sloppy. Any other question please let me know.
    Thank!

Looks great. That power supply will provide plenty of power. I'm sure someone can suggest you some little tweaks, but what you have there is solid.

Maybe check out the Corsair Carbide 200R case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811139018
-2 USB3.0 ports instead of one
      -2 fans instead of 1
-comes with a free dvd burner if purchased from Newegg
-basically the same price (+/- $5 depending on if you fill out the rebate)

Corsair has many nice cases, if you are willing to spend some more.

      Otherwise, everything looks pretty good.

7970 GHz Edition or normal 7970? I have an XFX Radeon HD 7970 Black Edition and it's badass. I suggest you get the GHz if you can, it'll only be that much better.

Past that, everything looks great on that list.

Yea, it was a normal 7970 but I will look into the GHz edition! Thank you for the reply!

Any certain color scheme you are going for?

If you're planning on OCing that 3770K, may I suggest investing in a CLC water cooler? Perhaps the 120 mm Cooler Master Seidon 120XL ($50 after $25 MIR) might interest you? Much easier install, quiet, more room for airflow (especially over your RAM heatsinks), and generally good for overclocking.

$114 - 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3-1600 RAM. Get it. Saves you another $10 or so and lets you upgrade to 32 GBs down the line (if you even want to by then).

I'd second the 7970 GHz edition. Fastest single card (single GPU) right now for the money. Or you could save a bit and go with a HD7950 and overclock it instead.
