Almost so much to be untrue. I would be cautious about something on it being damaged. It is definitely worth a good $100 more than the lister is asking.

Craigslist is similar to Ferengi Rules of Acquisition #19.

      Satisfaction is not guaranteed.

Yeah he's trying the old "I have another interested buyer offering me 500 right now...." tactic.

I live in the SF bay area and find Craigslist computer/games section to be complete crap. Prices are way too high for outdated parts and software... And there is always rule #19!
I suggest you buy from a known rated source rather than throw the dice on craigslist.

Uh, I wouldn't even entertain that offer. Aside from the fact that he has a X79 matched with a non-K i7, nothing else in the specs is very specific. It's like he just copied the iBuypower PC builder verbatim and posted it on Craigslist to scam people. Because that is what that "deal" is looking like to me right now.

So his listed motherboard and CPU would not work together?

It does work together (LGA2011 CPU with a LGA2011 board). It's just a regular i7 with that is a non-K edition, in other words locked multiplier which means overclocking that i7 is going to amount to maybe a 400 mhz bump (perhaps not even that). So if you wanted to OC that baby, you couldn't until you got a i7-3930k which is gonna cost you $570+ (LGA2011).

That "deal" sounds too good to be true.

Let's break down the total cost of that system:

$40 - Computer Case (iBuypower's Arc case seems to be worth at least $40)
                $300 - i7-3820 CPU
                $240 - ASUS P9X79 Mobo
                $60 - 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3 RAM
                $190 - 2 GB HD7850
                $60 - 500 GB HDD
                $15 - DVD Burner
                $15 - 2.1 Speaker Set
                --------
$920 total (not including applicable tax or shipping fees)

Now you tell me if $400 sounds too good to be true or not?

Buys computer from craigslist, gets a toaster with hard drives jammed in it. :row__739:
