  • Suggestions on Headphones for 70$

Long story short: I had these (http://www.amazon.com/Monster-Cable-...dp/B0057X4TWA/) headphones for around 4 months before they broke twice and amazon refunded in full 70$ back to me which I want to spend on different headphones.

I am small time audiophile and am looking for +-70$ headphones for music to listen on Ipod (so ohm impedence is a factor) and computer. I have an aversion to companies such as Skullcandy, Monster (I'm done with this one forver), and Beats -- all hype no performance for way more money; equivalent to "Alienware" in the PC world.

These are what I have been looking for so far:

    1. ATH-M30X 70$: http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica...dp/B00HVLUQW8/

    2. HD 518 73$: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-...dp/B0042A68R8/

    3. HARX 900 60$: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013P3ZOE/
    Suggestions?

None of the links worked for me, but do you want earbuds for strictly music, or for gaming as well? If just listening, Try the newer iPhone earbuds, I usem on my 5 and they sound amazing. The bass is better than expected and they haven't broke in the year I've had it. They also just look nice and sleek, and feel amazing in your ear. If you want over the ear headphones, try SkullCandies, since other brands will cost from $150+.

There is a reason why skullcandy is 15$ and others are 150$; I prefer to listen to music the way it was meant to, not listening through tin cans :P .
While the new apple earbuds are indeed an improvement over prior ones, they still do not justify the 30$ price both in build quality and sound quality. While sound quality is entirely subjective when it comes to headphones, I urge you to compare your iphone ones to nice sony headphones that are usually on stand at costco, walmart etc...

Links should be working correctly now.

And yes, these headphones would be entirely for music, I already have a "gaming headset". I listen to a wide variety of music (Glitch Mob to Muse to Howard Shore to Journey) so I need balanced headphones i.e. not bass heavy, treble boosted etc...

The entry level Grado headphones come to mind, or the HiFiMan RE-400. This might get you started: http://www.headfonia.com/buyers-guide/

MY headphones are amazing for what I need them for. I usually listen to songs with more bass to them, so the EarPods from Apple are fine for me. I can hear the beats in the ForeGround and BackRound perfectly, so I have no reason to buy any headphones that are more expensive. Also, I HAVE compared my EarPods to other brands and these are a lot better. the Sound is a lot more crisp than those BOSE and i have Sony headphones (Some $200 pair I got for christmas) and I still prefer my EarPods a lot more.

I use bose earbuds for everything. I've always been a bose fanboy. Also if your headphones go bad you can go to a bose store and replace them for 50% off!

Ghost, can those earbuds work with gaming? Like do BOSE headphones use the Mic in game as well?

Went with the JVC HA-RX900, they are huge but sound amazing, work good with games too.
