  • Prioritizing router traffic

Some time ago I read about having the router prioritize a game over all other traffic. I'd like mine to give the right of way to BF4 when the kids are streaming Netflix. Can any modem do this or is there something special to look for?

Have you examined the available QOS settings in the router?

No, but I will. Once I Google what that means.

            Re: Prioritizing router traffic

QOS = quality of service = ability to prioritize a particular type of network traffic

whether or not the available settings will be able to do what you want is another question

If you are lagging because of the Netflix streaming, QoS often will not solve that problem through packet prioritization alone. You'll also have to set a max download speed for your kid's computers (usually done via MAC address).
