  • Computer Phone!

Does anyone know a free way to use your computer as a phone? I dont want to have to buy calling cards or pay a company, I want a totaly free way.
    Any suggestions?

If you wanna call a landline, I don't think there are any free ways any more :(

Lots of programs for doing computer-to-computer calling though.. Skype is the popular one these days. $.021 (2.1 cents) per minute for calling in the US to a landline, free for PC-to-PC calls.

Skype is the computer phone that is integrated into the TG website, so i would stick with that. There is no free way to call PC to landline yet :(.

Which one of these are you referring to?

Does Skype work for users behind NAT? I know that SIP phones have problems with NAT, but IAX phones should work. (Inbound calls require port forwarding. SIP uses random ports, while IAX uses a fixed port, making it easy to configure the port forwarding.)

It's not that there aren't any yet, it's that there aren't any anymore. www.dialpad.com used to be free, but they had to start charging because they realized giving away a paid service was not a good business model. It costs money to connect to the telephone network.
