  • A few questions: (internal pics of my pc included)

Hey, took another look inside my pc today before i was gunna order my new psu and noticed that the back of my graphics card has a label saying "AGP Card".

But....my specs say nothing about me having an AGP slot:

    http://pcdesktops.alege.net/Acer-Asp...C-Desktop.html

    " Expansion Slots PCI Express x16 x 1 PCI x 2 PCI Express x1 x 2"

Just sorta causes a problem with me wanting a 7800 GT. So what is up with this? Is the label wrong or are the specs wrong ? Will i be able to put the 7800 GT where the AGP X600 is?

After i get my 7800 is was considering getting an x-fi by putting it where the TV Tuner PCI card is. I didnt really want to put the card there...will i have to do this now?

    Included image with labels:

Thanks in advance for any help

It's pretty hard to tell from that pic, but it looks like an AGP port to me. When all else fails, follow the video card.

I would call the manufacture and find out what they could do about it, if its posted PCI-e that could be interesting.
that sounds like a good idea trooper.

Unless you have more slots hidden from view on the right side of your network card, I only count 3 expansion slots total; 1 AGP and 2 PCI (presumably). According to the tech sheet, you should have 3 PCIe slots (a 16x and two 1x) and 2 PCI slots. I don't see any PCIe slots, as PCIe 1x slots are really easy to differentiate from other stuff.

Either you have the wrong tech specs, or you got cheated on your system. Does your motherboard have a label on it somwhere that says the chipset/manufacturer?

doesnt look like a bigger MB would fit into that case.....looks like you got cheated, i would sue.

find out what type of MB you are supposed to have and what you actaully have and let us know

Ill try opening up the case now, luckily my dads friend provides PCs to schools. So he got us this one as he uses Acer. Hes got tech guys who fix the pcs etc, so ill try and get in touch with them.

Re: A few questions: (internal pics of my pc included)

This is weird :S, you sure you cant get an x600 in agp?

The slot the x600 is connected to is black, where the other 2 are white. There is no third white one.

Looking abit closer at the specs:

                      MOTHERBOARD
                      Bus Speed 800 MHz
                      Video Output Interface PCI Express

                      AUDIO / VIDEO
                      Graphic Processor ATI RADEON X600
Video Out Ports 15 Pin D-Sub VGA port x 1

This is all i could get after looking at the motherboard:

                      (from label)

                      M/B S/N:MBS100800144101AA4EL00

Well, I'd say to stop looking at that tech sheet. It's obviously not the same specs as the computer you're showing us, as the number of slots doesn't match. Somewhere on your motherboard should be the manufacturer brand, such as ASUS or Intel. Keep searching for something along those lines.

Use these articles to find out what your MB is:

                          http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/34

                          or

                          http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/236/2

The second link talks about the program SANDRA, which you can get from here: http://www.sisoftware.net/index.html...uy&langx=en&a=

Hopefully that will get you on track.

Ok, i didnt used sandra i used hwinfo32 other programs found on the 4th page of the sandra article:

Ok, looks like the "AGP Card" Label is a mistake, im still puzzled where the other PCI-X Slot is. Heres all the screens:

(sorry if they are abit big)

It says one PCI-X slot is not being used though, dunno where that could be
