  • Sound blaster audigy 4

    Hey guys,

I just got a SB audigy 4, and I'm told it will be a good upgrade from the onboard sound I was using. But I haven't installed a sound card in about 10 years. I was wondering if anybody knew how to disable the onboard audio on a dell dimension 4600?

Onboard sound is generally done through the BIOS. I know a lot of OEM computers such as Dells do not have an actual user BIOS that can be entered. I know my HP Pavillion had no BIOS I could get into.

Generally when you boot our computer while its posting hit F8 to go into setup. That's the BIOS, there should be an option to disable your on board sound.

Ok thanks, I'll give that a shot. I guess I should also get rid of the drivers for the onboard sound.

or you could disable it thru your control panel in the device manager
that sounds like a good idea trooper.

Headphones work, mic works, speakers work. Everything sounds good. Now, I just gotta figure out how to use the remote controller. Thanks for the help.

Good luck on getting the controller to work.

Creative makes awesome soundcards and speakers. Their drivers and patches however suck.

I have a Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. Came with the external box and remote control. The remote control never worked. I think I ended up throwing it out.
