  • New 9800 Pro, no signal to monitor on boot

    Hi gang. Help!!!

I just got a new ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and installed it. When I rebooted, my monitor actied like it had no signal - flashing light, and black screen.

I put the old card back in and it boots like a champ.

Took the card back and got another one, same problem.

The card has power - the fan spins, etc. What can I do?

GUH! I'm sure someday I'll perform an upgrade that goes smoothly but it hasn't happened yet...

    Thanks,

    leejo

Need a bit more help what motherboard do you have and what card are you upgrading from.
A small thing but did you plug the power connector into the card, that can cause this along with the card not being in the port right. You need to put more pressure on the Radeon cards to put them into the AGP port make sure you can't see the gold contacts on the card. Best I can do for now 8)

Never mind. All's well now. I had fiddled with the AGP rate and voltage and the new card didn't like that.
