I looked through it, didn't really read it though.

Did you notice how most of the stuff in the most expensive versions is random crap you don't need?

Same here, there's a lot of Vista stuff that doesn't look very appealing to me. I will stick with XP for the time being.

Way back when Vista was announced Microsoft made this bold statement that all will switch to Vista, including linux and Unix users. Thats where that comes from. Its gonna be really interesting to see how many companies do just the opposite, switch to linux for business machines.

My neighbor has a beta of Vista and has nothing but problems with it. Not user friendly at all.

Re: Really big review on Vista Beta

I agree with Bonehead. I've quite enjoyed my XP experience, but I'm looking forward to something new.

That said, it has been a little distressing to read about delay after delay, and poor review after poor review of Vista. Recently, MS changed the guy in charge of the Vista project, and that's when the big delays came in. I think that whoever was there previously was screwing up big time, and now they need a fair amount of extra time to fix what wasn't done right the first time.

Re: Really big review on Vista Beta

heh heh...when XP came out, I was at my wit's end with Win98SE. I was so frustrated that I was spending a good deal of time trying to get Linux working on my system.

Incidentally, I had fairly big problems there - even Mandrake support wasn't sure what was causing them. I can't recall what caused the problem any more, but I do know that experience has become formative in my evaluation of Linux.

The point is that I loved XP from the word 'Go.'

Actually, beta means feature complete, there will be bugs, but if it ain't user friendly now, it never will be.

That's hardly fair, Bonehead. The feature which is usually criticized as being not user friendly is mainly the UAC which, to my knowledge, cannot be turned off. This is not a question of asthetics.

Besides, Lorian wasn't commenting one way or another on the specifics of Vista with his post - he was just clarifying what it means for something to be in beta.

What a leap in logic to think that disliking a feature is equivalent to disliking the company that produced the product that contains the feature.

                            Unless you're kidding, of course.

                              Regardless... Microsoft sucks.

Aaaaanyway... I'm pretty sure the UAC can be turned off, I'm not a very reliable source though.
