  • "My Computer" doesnt work

Hey everybody, I have had a problem for about a week that i have been ignoring but now im getting tired of it.

Whenever i click "My Documents" or "My Pictures" or something that involves looking at my files, my task bar dissapears for about 5-10 seconds and then reapears and then the little aplication icons slowly come back. Is there anyway to fix this?

I have run adaware, and norton. I had a virus called spywarequake which sucked but i ran something called SmitRem and it apparently got rid of it, i think. This has all started when my dad wanted to go back to using IE9 or whatever the newest version is.

The thing is, is that if i restart my computer I can access my files until something happens and i get an error, i forgot what it said but ill edit with a screen cap of it later. My theory is that it has something to do with my dad's user being on and mine on at the same time. He doesnt think so, he likes to think that i am the problem.

Any help would be awesome, thanks guys!

PS. This did not start with bad pr0n, just for the record ;)

    Re: "My Computer" doesnt work

Since this error is unrelated to a TG service, I moved it to the Hardware/Software forum. Hopefully, someone will have a solution.

I'm glad you've only been looking at good porn then. ;)

You might try googling the running processes in your task manager. Every once in a while you catch something running that shouldn't be there which has slipped through whatever anti virus/spyware software you've run.

first of all, explorer is crashing when you try access the file explorer. (windows explorer). just about everything on the right side of the start menu is a suset of explorer.exe.... try copying explorer.exe from another machine, but it sonds like you have bigger problems.....

          Re: "My Computer" doesnt work

I think i have bigger problems, i tried deleting processes and i had like one problem. I have popups for winantivirus, and they always prompt me to download it. This is driving me insane, the popup i get tells me something about having to switch to a different program, so i select "Paint" and then it prompts me if i want to keep running the scripts and it doesnt matter which answer i choose. I have run adaware with updates virus definitions and norton antivirus. I'm really desperate, you guys have any suggestions.

                Re: "My Computer" doesnt work

Wow wee.. that's a lot of stuff! All those O18's that belong to Logitech.. I'd get rid of em. No need for so many.

I'm seeing software for an MAudio card and a SB Audigy.. do you use both?

I would start by removing all this junk:

May not solve the problem, but it'll give you a good start. If it doesn't fix it, repost a fresh hijack this log in these forums. Those folks are pretty good at tracking down pesky bugs and have more specialized removers for some stuff. We are to gaming as they are to spyware removal ;) If you do post there, please post the link here so I can see what all they do to help you out.. just out of curiosity so I can learn :)

Wow, very thorough job that guy did! I'm impressed! Make sure you give him a fresh log to verify the cleanliness.. Use IE to run that Fprot scan just to triple check things.
