  • Can my XFX 7600GT AGP 580M handle BF2 at 1600x1050?

I am thinking about upgrading my monitor from an AG-Neovo 19" 1280x1024 to a Samsung 22" 1600x1050 (226BW). The Samsung monitor is getting great reviews because it has 3000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response, which would be great for watching movies and gaming (I do both a lot). The most GPU intensive game I play is BF2, and I probably won't be buying any new games for a while until I get a new computer (milking my old skt 754 agp system for as long as possible). I am wondering if my XFX 7600GT AGP 580M is powerful enough to play BF2 at that resolution at decent framerates (>30fps). Right now I have all settings on high, but I am willing to deal with medium settings for higher resolution.

I also play WoW, CS Source, DoD Source, Civilization 4, and Warcraft 3.

    My system specs are:

    Asus K8n-e Deluxe motherboard (NForce 3 250GB)

    AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (skt 754)

    3x512MB DDR SDRAM 400MHz

    XFX 7600GT AGP 580M

    Auzentech Xplosion PCI Sound Card

WD 80GB SATA HDD 8MB Cache

    430W Seasonic PSU

    Asus DVD+_RW Burner

Thanks in advance for your advice.

You shouldn't have a problem. My AGP 6800GT runs BF2 fine at 1600x1200 with everything maxed except for AA, and it looks like you're comp is way better than mine too. I'm still using a 5 year old AMD 2600. So you should be a-ok.
