  • My new rig (for real this time)

I'm 95% sure this is the rig I'll be buying in the next week. I'm *finally* doing it!

Anyways, after hours of going through everything on newegg, I came up with this:

    Case:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811146035

    Motherboard:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131013

    Processor:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103771

    Memory:

I might also get the ddr2 800 instead. The mobo supports the 800 speed as its max, so I can upgrade to the best potential RAM a year or two down the road without any problems. Might as well make it use all its potential so it will last for a good long time.

    Video Card:

    Hard Drive:

    Power Supply (already purchased):

    Total with shipping = $860.30

I'm sticking with XP probably until fall\winter when a service pack comes out for Vista. My only real worry right now is if I will have enough space for that honking video card in that mid tower case. I really *love* the case, and its gotten good reviews from other sites, but just not sure if it can handle the card without measurements. What do you guys think???

    It'll fit fine.

I have a tendency to key out three or four things and then let them battle for supremacy while I key, so there's a lot of backspacing as potential statements are slaughtered and eaten by the victors. ~

Has anyone ever had any problems running a AM2 chip on a nvidia board? Is there any special drivers I need to download?

I haven't heard of any problems. I know of two friends who have built AM2 systems on nV chipsets. None of them told me of any complications. Check with ASUS tech support or on their forums (very helpful).
