Get some Medusa's. I recommend the Gamer Version 2 edition that is USB powered. There are some other threads on this topic if you search.

They're also quite expensive. If you want a cheap headset, I'm sure you can find one from Logitech. They don't make that many headsets.

I owned those, they hurt after awhile, and mine shorted out just one month after I bought them.

I got a pair of Sennheiser PC151 headset, the sound is very good. Although they hurt my ears after a while, but what headphones don't?

Over-ear sets are generally more comfortable than on-ear ... since your earlobes aren't squished :)

                          Re: New Headset Help

Anyone have the Plantronics .Audio 510? Just ordered a pair from Newegg.

My DSP-500s finally bit the dust and were out of warranty. Couldn't afford to drop a ton on a headset since I don't game as much these days. I know the .Audio 550 is the direct replacement for the DSP-500 but I couldn't drop that much right now.

What confuses me is according to the specs I've read, the 550 has a DSP, the 510 doesn't. So what DOES the 510 have that allows it to be USB? It has to have a 'sound card' of some type built in, doesn't it?

                            Re: New Headset Help

I've been satisfied before with the mic quality on Plantronics headsets. I'm still using the mic part of an old Plantronics taped to my Zalman 5.1 headphones.

DigitalAssassin: A DSP is a Digital Sound Processor. It probably means it can do Dolby Pro Logic or EAX2 effects through software processing. The 510 sounds like it's just a regular sound card (comparable to old motherboard onboard sound).
