  • Pls.... help!! Looking for a more stable driver for the XFX 7600GT 256 AGP....

Hi...this is my first post. Playing BF2.Using 163.75 Drivers and when playing tonight.Sound card maxed XFI - ultra settings.Tried settings:

1024x768x85,med settings - sound stutter and slight jerky video.
    1024x768x60 " " - same
1024x768x85,low settings - no sound stutter, smother video, but game froze.

Would it be the card or the drivers?

I had ATI x1300 Pro and was flawless with 1024x768x60 med settings.
This card has to be better then that ATI...I'm hoping!!

The texture filtering under the control panel is set to quality, should it be set to high performance?Evrything is set pretty much to default under 3D settings

    Everythings patched.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Did you plug in the 4-pin molex from your PSU to the card? If not, you'll need to do that.

Did you uninstall the ATI drivers before installing your nVidia drivers? If you haven't unisntalled your ATI drivers, do that now. Then reboot your system.

Yes, it does. Disable RivaTuner and uninstall it. RivaTuner doesn't support the last two driver releases from nVidia. In addition, the 7600 GT really does clock any higher, so the OC you're doing is most likely causing the problem. If you had a 7800 GS, it would be a different story.

When I had the 6800GT, then the 7800GS (both AGP), I found that the older 80's and 90's series drivers ran much smoother and trouble free than the newer 100's drivers. Maybe you should give those a try first.

The only reason i was using rivatuner was so i could have gpu temp and fan settings. Not into overclocking. Is there any program that just does that?Maybe ntune?

Would someone know the best way to uninstall it?I 'm sure I set evrything back to default except my fans speeds.I just want everything back to default before I installed it(registries...ect).Are my making this my complcated then it is?Just bought this card last week and haven't been able to enjoy BF2 or SP forces.

I'll try maybe the drivers that came withe the card again(90's) to.

You can roll back your drivers to the previous one through: Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > Adapter > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver.

I have a 7800 and am using 84.69 drivers... it doesn't handle smoke-grenades well, but everything else is great.

I'm running a 7600 GS with the latest 1xx.xx drivers and have had no problems with it across multiple games. Although it seems as if I've suffered a loss of 10 fps since 94.2x drivers (it's maybe due to an aging video card).

Check out www.guru3d.com this site has lots of info on drivers and a section to download them. The forum even has dedicated sub forums for Nvidia and ATI drivers. I would search or post there for your best chance of finding what you need.

With my 7800GTX I think the last driver that there were improvements for it were in the 9x.xx range.

So rolling back drivers will fix the rivatuner problem?if it is a problem,or switch it back to fixed fan that was 31.Are these dumb questions?
