  • Soundblaster X-fi

I have an X-Fi fatality platinum/pro (the one with the "drive" that goes in a bay in your pc.

My question is this: both the drive and the card itself have plugs to source power from a floppy connector. Do I need to plug them both up or just one (and which)?

I have lost the instructions to this card in a move.

Thanks in advance for any help.

There's a link there to product documentation downloads. Grab the manual and quickstart guide for your X-Fi.

I've got the same card, and don't remember seeing anything on the card for a power connector. There is a connector for audio hookups to your CD drive, perhaps that is what you're talking about? I'll open it up later today and see.

There are two four pin "floppy" power plugs, one for the card and one for the bay. I've run the card without the power cable plugged in before and it worked. The power plug on the X-fi is on the bottom on the card towards the front of the card (front of the case) facing away from the PCI slot.
