  • Another day, another build...

    Here's my build so far...

I already have a few pieces I hope to cannibalize from the older rig (PSU, DVD ROM ETC).

I want stable 1066 ram for when I grab the black edition phenom (when it's released). I'm also not sure of a good air cooling solution.

Just found and ordered the Phenom black edition... woot.

You might want to double check you have enough room for that large orange Zalman HSF.

Also, be careful that the 4-pin connector cable (for the CPU) isn't touching your mobo heatsink or that of the Zalman. You don't want to accidently melt the plastic covering over the wires or end up stopping the fan on the Zalman HSF.

The length of the 8800 might force you to use the lower HDD rack instead of the upper one.

Good info, I'll take another look at the spec sizes.

            Looks good to me.

A quick google of the heatsink and mobo gave a result that somebody was using that combination. It should fit without problems.

After looking at the case, I've decided to go with something bigger. Looks like it would be cramped in there after all. The new case has some good reviews and looks cool as hell.

I bought 4 gigs of this 1066 Corsair memory:

I couldn't be happier with it. (except it droped so much in price now)
They run a like $30 rebate every other week seems like, so I only paid $135 before.

Here is a better if not the best solution for air cooling the cpu: Thermalright ultra 120
This cooler comes fanless so you must purchase a 120mm fan. This heatsink will fit on a cosmos 1000 but check with the mobo. I have that case at home and its pretty huge.

Deleted my post, realised that GTS you have is the newest one, not the old variety.

Final iteration, I think I've made a decision. Going crossfire too!.
