I've heard good things about the EEE-PC, hacks are awesome for it... But alot has already been done to them, which leaves little to do (I like venturing off on my own)... I found this, and will be hacking this to pieces:
Though, i may still get a EEE-PC just for the heck of it, but i'll wait for a newer revision that has better battery life. My current Dell Latitude D830 has almost 8 hours of battery life on some major power saving settings (4 hours with it on performance settings), the EEE-PC for its size and what not should be able to do at least 5hrs stock.
Seen anything smaller? I need a "headless" (no keyboard or video) system that will fit in a 3x3x1 inch footprint (PSU external), solid state ok, with Ethernet. FPU and some kind of FPGA would be great. I'll be running some flavor of Linux on it, and a custom driver to talk to some other electronics.
