    Anyone seen this beast?

    HannsG - 27.5" Widescreen Flat-Panel TFT-LCD Monitor

It looks pretty good. I saw one at the local store. But it's hard to judge with the canned demo. I'd really like to see it with a wall of text (since I'd be using it for programming and reading email and forums) to judge readability. A display that works well for multimedia (including games) may not be great for text work. Their demo focuses mostly on video-like usage.

BTW it's now $50 cheaper over at newegg, and without tax in most areas.

      I've currently got a 21" Hitachi CM823FB tube monitor:

I just realized that if/when I go to widescreen, I'm gonna have to rearrange my desk to find a new place for my coffee hot plate (which sits just to the left of the monitor). :p

The reviews on newegg seem pretty positive. I want one, but then I'd need to spend another 500-600$ on two new video cards, to support that native resolution.
