Can anyone show me a good place to get some XP themes. Preferable without spyware.

    Re: XP themes

Get this program. It's worth the retail version, but they do have a slim down free version.

    Vista Transformation Pack

I had it running on my old XP back during versions 4 and 5, and really liked it. They are now at version 8.0.1, and it looks to be even better!

Which type of themes are you looking for? There's a sticky up top that describes the different types of themes.

I like going to Neowin.net's forums. They have a forum for artists to put up their themes in: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showforum=36

        Re: XP themes

        Thanks

I switched to XP from 2000 a year ago. And I'm finally sick of the themes. So I'm not very picky at this point.

I ran the UXtheme muti-patcher and every time I opened windows explorer it crashed. I had to do a system restore. Many people there are having problems with it as well. Any other ways to do this?

I'm going to try the Vista transformation. I don't want to buy windowblinds and go hog wild, I just want a little change.

Edit: By installing the transformation pack it also patched UXtheme file so now I'm all good.

If you do the UxTheme method for changing themes (free, btw), then you can also look here for some good ones:

Not if you don't use the third party apps is comes with- Sidebar, calender etc.

                        Re: XP themes

Yeah, I didn't use the Sidebar, cause just like in Vista it uses some resources and my old XP didn't have any to spare.
I am going to reinstall XP on my old computer once Service Pack 3 is released and put it out in the living room hooked to the TV, and plan on having the Vista transform installed.
They have a pretty good forum over there if I remember right. Could look there for more info on it.

                          Re: XP themes

And...I don't need window blinds? Nice. I'm going to give it a shot right now. After reading several manuals I think I have a good grasp...

EDIT: This gets into some real...heavy stuff. I'd rather keep my system stable the way it is than risk touching anything with windows files...

I've been using Royal Noir for about 3+ months

Double EDIT: Bamboo, I read in the support threads for VTP 8 that it does not work with SP3

                            Yeah, I read that too.
I went over and looked through the forums right after I mentioned it here.
I am sure he will update to fix it.
I also liked the Royal Noir and used it for a while.

Just be careful with VTP (Vista Transformation Pack). Some previous versions were known to conflict with some games and even iTunes. Stardock's WindowsBlinds is your safest bet.

I even purchased WB5 last year after I went through all the possible heartbreaks I could have with the various XP theming software out there.
