  • HL2 backup

Once HL2 is released, those who bought through Steam (and who have a DVD burner on their system) may want to backup their installations so as to avoid having to download the whole thing over in the event of a hard drive format or other unforseen events. Then all it takes is to install Steam, connect and top-off to a current install. Well, in theory...

      Re: HL2 backup

i dont think its going to fail at all, part of the puplishers arguements about steam (other than the fact it removes the need for them and they lose there %) is the fact valve MAY have delayed HL2 programing, while they managed to get the steam network working fine for the demand. Now it works they finished it.... this time last year Steam would have NEVER been able to cope with HL2 release, now however its done fine, so far.

the preloads worked, i for one already have a full copy of HL2 (well phase6 preload) on my pc, it worked fine, transfering at 60KB when i had 64KB connection, and doing 112KB when i had a 128KB connection......

And steam always works for me, apart from the friends network.
