  • 1000 dollar 'bare bones'

For those of you afraid to build your own but want to be able to modify once you get the ballz.

Comparing parts with new egg prices makes this prefab bare bones look like pretty good deal.

Ridiculously overpriced, IMO. You could easily build a system with the same specs (or better in certain areas) for under 700. But if people are too lazy to essentially snap lego pieces together (which is what I'd compare building a computer to) then fine, they can waste money.

Somewhat of a good deal. Kind of.
For instance the 680i motherboard and 6700 CPU are what, about 2 years old now.
And the E8400 blows the 6700 away, and it only like $170, whereas they list the 6700 as costing $250. Heck, the q6600 is only $200.
Pretty decent price on the 2X8800GT's though.

That would be an excellent alternative to something from Dell or HP though.

Thats the OEM on the processor..I paid $199 for a Q6600 with a fan..!

Nothing really "good" about that "deal" IMHO but the 8800's, like Bamboo said..that is pretty good deal..

            I thought CompUSA went bankrupt?

When did they return from "beyond the grave"?

            -----

Goodness, that is one overpriced "barebones". It doesn't even qualify as a barebones, so I'm not sure why you guys are calling it "barebones".

Barebones usually means just: a case, motherboard, compatible CPU, and/or compatible RAM.

Yea, I was a little quick on that, I just compared the part by part to new egg and it happened to be cheaper, so I assumed it was a good deal.
