  • Need Recco: AM2 Fan&Heat Sink

    Hey all,
I am putting together a HTPC and I have a AMD 5000x2 AM2 sitting around that I am going to use, but I need a Heatsink and Fan. I have not really followed AMD since the Core 2's came out, so I am out of the loop on all aspects. What is a good option if I am not going to OC it. It needs to be fairly quiet so it can be heard, but good enough to cool :)

    Thanks all!

i have that on my 6400 (a very HOT cpu) and it runs less than 45c full load on high, and it is near silent on high, and unnoticable on low
    powered by Windows 7

      Just an update:
I went with a mini ninja cooler and left the fan off inorder to fit into the case. Everything is done and built, now to get the damn tuner card to work.

I used to have a zalman cooler and it was very quite, silent on the lowest fan setting. For overclocking it wasn't enought but at a mild overclock it was fine so for your scenario it should work great. The one I used was from several years ago, the newer ones are even better.

Not quite as quiet than the Zalmans or the Silent Square (but still pretty darn quiet), a great performer and cheap to boot. ZI have it's big brother (the HDT-1283) and am pretty much in love with it.

thanks guys, but as I said I already went with the Mini Ninja due to size constraints of the case....and so far I have no probs with it!
