    I don't quite get why they would bother with triple-channel RAM.

      you could have said the same thing about dual channel a while ago but its just the next step forward.

        It is less of a bottle neck isn't it? Allows for more throughput so the CPU and RAM can chat back and forth faster.

          Multi-channel seems like a step backwards from the direction we see with PCI-E, which switched from a parallel PCI bus to a serial one to reduce timing sensitivity between parallel channels and achieve more reliability.
