  • CryEngine 2

I thought I'd post this video since it shows off some of the very nice features of the next engine (probably present in FC2): Watch it here!

Some of the features I look forward to seeing in action:
    • Real Time Lighting Maps
    • Parallax Occlusion Mapping (I wish this was present in the JK games of old)
    • 3D Ocean Technology (more realistic water with good depth perception)
    • Component Vehicle Damage (shoot out the wheels!)
    • Real Time Ambient Maps

This is almost two years old. Surely you are aware of the game Crysis?

Oh. Whoops. Didn't realize how old the video was. Guess I should have checked my source before posting.

        Re: CryEngine 2

I was laughing when I watched it. Yeah, the video is very old. And remember that Crytek, who makes the Cryengin, has nothing to do with FarCry2. That is being done by UBIsoft Montreal.

farcry 2 isnt using the cryengine2? wasnt crysis kind of a farcry2 or did they drop the thought of that when crysis didnt go over as well as they hoped?

            Re: CryEngine 2

Crysis was developed by Crytek, but Ubisoft bought the rights to Farcry and of course FarCry2.

EA Games owns Crysis, and all the rest.

Personally, I'm liking the look of FarCry 2 better than Crysis. More realistic, no aliens or mutants.

FarCry 2 also comes out on Nov. 11.

I never really liked FC or Crysis, both of their multiplayers felt more like CS:S and lacked any "fun".

This is my favorite Crysis CryEngine 2 video. I still have the HD version saved.

I agree with you Bamboo. I don't go in for the aliens etc. either.
