  • Looking for multi kill/launch app

There are a bunch of processes I want terminated with one click before I start gaming. And I want them started again with one click. Anyone know of anything????

I'm looking for exactly the same thing, someone recommended process explorer, but I couldn't figure how to do what I wanted.

You can write a batch file and use "taskkill" to stop the processes. Use "start" to restart them.

An example batch file to kill firefox and drvIcon.exe:

      taskkill /IM firefox.exe
      taskkill /IM drvIcon.exe

      These commands will restart them:
      start firefox.exe
      start drvicon.exe

Edit: Make sure you use the "start" command to restart the apps. If you don't then it will block at the first one.

This page explains a bit more about taskkill.

You can add the flag "f". It may help.

/f :: Specifies that process(es) be forcefully terminated. This parameter is ignored for remote processes; all remote processes are forcefully terminated.
          taskkill /f /IM op_mon.exe

Also, op_mon may be running as a service. I do not know if taskkill will terminate services.

I've used the technique that Wimp describes below to my satisfaction.

Is there anyway to kill services and processes using one batch file or perhaps a program?

At the command prompt, to stop, start, pause, resume a service:

                  net stop [service]
                  net start [service]
                  net pause [service]
                  net continue [service]

                  service = service name

Here's a handy command line reference
                  .

Re: Looking for multi kill/launch app

to find the name of the service to kill, double click on it in services.msc and it will list the name under service name

for instance print spooler has a service name of spooler

                      so to stop it type:
                      net stop spooler
