your cpu has a hard drive? nice. j/k
Any OS install disk will give you that option during install.

Compile it, and burn to CD. On the initial boot menu on the CD, there's a "Boot & Nuke" option.

Just about every harddrive hardware maker has an app you download from their site. Just look who makes yours or try Spulat's above.

You need thermite if you really want to erase a drive though :D

              Re: Yo

If you want to overwrite the free space of your hard drive with random 0s and 1s, I recommend Eraser. It'll do it quickly and you're given a list of options (different algorithms) and also given a list of DoD standards.

It can also be burnt as a ISO onto a CD and used to wipe your hard drive completely in such a event where you need it (or find a big o' magnet cumbersome).

That would be a bit more lightweight of a solution than putting a UBCD together. For sure.

Though with the UBCD, it's handy to have around for recovery purposes and whatnot (at work we use it's boot environment for Ghost, file recovery, fixing MBRs, you name it)

the Format C:\ command would have worked... like.... 10 years ago.

Review the recommendations we've made above, then come back and let us know how it all worked out.

                            Format C:\
That was meant as joke. I would not do it unless you want to kiss all of your files, data, and OS partition goodbye.

Techies would/used to post that on online message forums whenever a non-techie or otherwise clueless gamer had something go wrong with his/her computer.
