For a time I worked for a company making a clone of the DEC PDP-10, and we had several DEC machines in-house to support our work, including some with real core memory and big reel-to-reel tapes. At one point the company owned a whopping total of about 200 megabytes of washing machine style disk drives, and we thought that was a lot.

Here's an interesting page on the old PDP-9:

Interesting read (so far) about old tech. I think I'll finish reading next weekend when I have a bit more time and can sit there to look at the pretty color pictures. :)

Technologizer is running an article of 11 ads from the 80's for personal computers. Their commentary on each ad is pretty funny.

About that time I asked my boss for a PC and a spreadsheet program. He said nobody uses that stuff it just for games. He was the IT manager and we were running a big mainframe. :)
