  • Aspire One and MSI Wind drop to $350

Two of the mini netbooks we have talked about here have dropped in price, and these are the XP versions. Word is they will drop even farther. And Eeepc head guy said he expects it to get down to $199 at some point.

    Check it out:

NewEgg's had the AAO for $350 for the past week.

I'm shocked that the MSI Wind actually dropped in price.

For the 3 or 6 cell version?

I got mine when they had the previous $350 deal.

Which by the way I tried putting Linux on it using the USB methos, but I keep getting a kernel error and haven't had the time to really look at it.

The $350 AAO is the 3-cell one. The 6-cell is still going for $400.

Pretty sure the Wind at BB is also the 3-cell version.

While we're on the subject of netbooks, I was at Micro Center again earlier today looking at their updated stock (1 HP, 1 Wind, 2 Acers, and 2 Eees).

The HP Mininote still has the best lappy keyboard around with the best tactile touchpad keys as well. The throw is similar the some the slim desktop keyboards out there. Ironically, the one at MC was running Vista Basic with 1 GB of RAM and a 1.2 GHz VIA. That thing logging in and out was very responsive (unlike XP). For some reason, it felt more responsive than the other netbooks next to it.
