  • GeForce 182.05 WHQL-candidate drivers released

Man, this is like the 3rd release in as many weeks, but they say there are some good improvements in this one:

    GeForce 182.05 WHQL-candidate drivers released

Nvidia is claiming that its new 182.05 WHQL-candidate drivers will give noticeable performance gains over the popular 181.22 WHQL drivers depending on the GPU configuration, system configuration, and game settings used.

    From the release notes:

Up to 8% performance increase in Fallout 3 at high resolution and AA.

Up to 10% performance increase in F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin.

Up to 9% performance increase in Half-Life 2 at high resolution with AA.

Up to 11% performance increase in Left 4 Dead at high resolution with AA.

Up to 10% performance increase in Race Driver: GRID at high resolution and AA.

At least they're noting performance increases in L4D, instead of breaking it for so many people in the 181 release.

BF2142 performance, I'm still at 175.19 since the rest give me odd glitches in BF2142.

which are fixed by messing with the AA settings...

turn it off in game and then in the nvidia control panel override the application setting and turn your AA to whatever you like.

So this is why I get a Checkerboard over my screen and it goes wonky like my NES just ate my game when I die in 2142?

Pretty much. At the rate nVidia is dishing out these drivers with these framerate increases, there is bound to be a downside: stability.

You might get texture blanding as well. I know I get it in several games, including GTA IV.

These new drivers remove the multi-core rendering "stuttering issue" in l4d

I just went back to the 178 release, after I finished BioShock (which 181 did improve drastically for me.)
