  • Microphone issue

    Hi!

I have some problems getting higher mic-volume on my new motherboards (ga-ma790GP-Dsh4) integrated soundcard (with realtek HD audio drivers). It is working alright, but its way to low ! ....you can hardly hear me on teamspeak (then imagine in-game)

    What I have tried:
*Get the latest audio drivers, on Gigabytes homepage.
*Check the mic on my old computer (its working fine).
*Tried using the backpanel and frontpanel
*Tried connecting the HD audio of my frontpanel to my motherboard
*Tried connecting the AC97 audio of my frontpanel to my motherboard
*Boost the volume in start/controlpanel/Sounds and Audio Devices.

    All help is appreciated

    Thanks

From my knowledge, a AC '97 FPaudio panel does not work with any onboard HD audio chipset. I'm guessing your FP is actually HD-compatible.

    Something you haven't tried:

    1) Open your Realtek HD Audio Manager

    2) Go to Microphone tab

    3) Drag the "recording volume" slider all the way to the right.

So it should look like this:

Some onboard soundcards are just crap at working with Microphones in my experience. It sounds like you have tried a lot of things, it may be best/easiest to go shopping if money is not too tight, and you have a free USB jack.

I have had great success with logitechs USB mic:

No BS configuration or drivers required. Plug in play.

Is that a analog microphone or a USB microphone?

I found a way to boost the mic volume inside realtek hd audio manager, and I get ok mic volume ingame. But now I have another problem, I can hear myself while Im speaking ingame, anyone know how to remove that, without losing the mic volume ?

                  Re: Microphone issue

On the above screenshot you gave us, click on the the gray radio (button) next to "Acoustic Echo Cancellation".

That should remove the feedback causing the echo. One other thing to keep in mind, keep your mic away from your speakers. That will cause an echo as well since some speakers are not shielded.

                    Re: Microphone issue

I tried the Acoustic Echo Cancellation, it dont make a different. But what I have realized is that I get more echo when I connect the mic to the backpanel instead of the front. When Im using the front I dont get as much echo, I guess I have to be happy about that...seems like this is the best I can get.

Can you hear youself when you talk out of game as well? Normally you had to mute your microphone on your audio output device - But it looks like that has changed on Vista, so I can't give you a screenshot.

You can find the newer version like Acreo posted here.
I went back to my on-board (Abit) sound after getting frustrated with my soundcard and downloaded the HD audio exe for Vista 64 and it shows up like pictured in his post.

the thing is: they are all gray, the only thing I can move on the input, is the recording volume.
