  • New iPod Shuffle.

Looks like Apple brought out a new shuffle.
4Gb, with voice over and no play/pause buttons on the player. They're limiting your choices in headphones now.

Ugh. No play/pause and no next/prev buttons. It's nice, thin, and small, but at the cost of important user controls. I only see this launching off with those fashion-over-practical users.

Okay, so it's not as bad as we thought: New iPod Shuffle Explained.

It seems that center gray area between the + and - volume controls on the headphone cord is the Play/Pause + Forward/Prev button. I still don't like how it takes x number of clicks to perform a certain action.

          Re: New iPod Shuffle.

Considering I carry my cell phone with me wherever I go now, including to the gym, and the fact that I can expand the memory with justa MicroSD card... it makes sense that I would just flip on TuneWiki and listen to my music that way. That way I don't have to monkey around with an MP3 player too.

Not to mention if you plug it in to the USB port on a car stereo it'll both recognize the device to play music directly off of, and it'll charge it.

But I'm not feeling the whole "clicky clicky" thing either. There's a certain point to where minimalization hampers ease of use.

After watching the video on Engadget I actually thought even worse of the shuffle lol.
Failure on Apple's part, massive failure.

Too bad the surface of the device doesn't feature a touch/slide-touch sensitive controls. That way one could use better canalphones/IEMs/headphones with it instead of the pearly ones Apple ships with their products.

Okay tonk, lets look at the name: "Ipod Shuffle" It's not meant to let you choose the song you want to hear, but just shuffle your music for you and leave you on your jolly way.

Something I would by my young kids to have, no buttons for them to destroy. Not for me though.

Um...there are three buttons on the headphone cord. Those inline controls break easily.

I seen those but for some strange reason my kids never had any problem from the headphones, they always come back with a destroyed MP3 player itself. They may destroy the buttons on the headphones though especially since they would be messed with a lot.
