  • Nvidia releases Forceware 182.50 WHQL drivers

    Just passing along the news:
Nvidia releases Forceware 182.50 WHQL drivers

It also boosts performance in several games compared to the previous WHQL release, with Nvidia citing titles such as Fallout 3 and Left 4 Dead, and installs the latest PhysX System Software.
But if you haven't heard, you are going to want to consider the new beta drivers just released too:

These drivers are still in the 182 family and do not include support for upcoming features like Ambient Occlusion, which is already available in the 185.63 beta released yesterday. Though this is enabled by default in many newer games, Nvidia says the Ambient Occlusion option means older games will look nicer than ever by making lighting effects and shadows much more realistic.
EDIT: this site does a writeup including pictures showing Amb. Occlusion.
    http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardwar...ambient-occl/1
It is hard to see, but if you open up the 2 same pictures side by side in tabs and then click back and forth, it really does look better!
I wonder if there is any difference in PR?

Well crap, for those that like to live on the cutting edge, things change fast:
    Geforce 185.66 beta drivers released

Within the past 72 hours, Nvidia has released Geforce 185.63 beta and Geforce 185.65 beta drivers for its Geforce 8-series (G92), 9-series, and 200-series GPUs. Apparently, these releases didn’t meet up to the company’s expectations so it pulled them and came back today with an update, Geforce 185.66 beta.
