  • Required PSU calculator

Just came across this neat tool.

Gives a good idea of what wattage PSU you need. Use it for upgrades or to see if your system is on the verge of a brownout.

    Remember: Excess capacity never hurts!

A quick search of mine didn't find it, so I went ahead and posted. If it has, in fact, been posted before, I apologize for the duplication and ask the moderators to remove the thread.

Its cool Cheburash. It has been posted about before, and there are actually a lot of this type tool all around the net. But if you input all your parts into each one, you will probably get a different answer from each. So check with a few different ones and take an average, then give yourself a little bit of headroom.

Really smart thing to do is buy a very well made name brand PSU that will last you through a couple of upgrades. Spending an extra $20 now might mean you don't have to spend the full $120 again in 4 years or so when you upgrade again.

Keep in mind if you use a grossly over spec'd(wattage) PSU it may operate below its maximum efficiency when not at max load.

If you are concerned about keeping the power bill down, check the efficiency/load curve.
