so over on the computer.tv forums a guy posted this

"Ok, im getting rid of my 3870, i never used it ever since i got it from a friend, reason why is that, it does not fit inside my computer cuz of the heat sink. the heat sink is a bit to big to fit inside my comp an i don't have money to buy a smaller heat sink, i also don't know the specs of the card, but what i do know is that it still works, an been sitting in my room with the box that i got from a friend. Im looking for cash or trade for another video card but mostly a video card, i hate using on board video. Im mostly looking for a 9800 but other offers are acceptable."

he asked for pictures so i posted them

i said it looked exactly like this one

he asked for specs gave them to him and then he wrote this

"alright, ill trade, even tho im losing more, its better to have a vid card that fits in ur comp that one that doesn't.

do you have AIM? add me if you do"

we talked on aim for a while he said it didint fit in his stock Hewlett packerd case and he didint have any money for a smaller card.

do you think i should trade? ive never traded anything online. i dont know if i should trust him, what if i send him my card and i never receive anything. thats $150 of lost cash and no video card for me.i told him that and he said well its also a risk for me what if you do that. but i know i wont do it. im just worried because im not a millionaire and if i dont get the card i probably wont be able to replace it... what will my parents say "well you shouldev thought about that before you sent it to some guy hundreds of miles away that you dont even know... help =[

    Re: your thoughts

There are companies out there that you can use as a third party. They charge a couple of bucks or a percentage, but might offer you some protection.
Personally, it would be pretty sketchy to just ship him a card and cross your fingers he will ship his and it will work perfect.
