  • Newegg deals for 12-10-09

I saw some decent deals in the Newegg email this morning and had a few mins, so thought I would post:

Of course the day after I order it, look what goes on sale:

    Other stuff

For someone running a 775 motherboard, and an older dual core like the e6600 or something, this quad could be a big boost in some games and apps.

Case has free shipping on top of that, which saves like $30

If you are wondering about if it is worth it to go from dual to quad, it is getting more worth it all the time. Yesterday I needed to rip some movies to my Iphone for a trip, opened up Handbrake, and while ripping all 4 cores were running 100%. Ripped in like 8 mins.

Some good deals, but in the wake of my Black Friday laptop incident I'm no longer shopping at Newegg.

Yeah my E6750 is looking a bit old now but its hard to drop +$200 on a new processor, maybe I can sneak it in as a Christmas present...

        Buy.com has the Q9550 for $226 w/ shipping

          Re: Newegg deals for 12-10-09

I agree with you Reaper, it's hard to just do a CPU up grade when you could jump to an i5 CPU for about the same plus motherboard. But then I was thinking most would have to buy new DDR3 RAM too, and some other stuff. So this might work good for some just wanting to squeeze another year or 2 out of their current rig.

            Re: Newegg deals for 12-10-09

My exact thoughts, just spend $200 or spend $200 and more for Mobo ($150ish) and DDR3($70-100), who knows maybe the new i5 and i3 will be 'cheap'. But I can really feel my dual core struggling with Dragon Age and I bet ME2 will be no different, BF:BC2 will also be quad ready, so tempting.

I found this one even more amusing.
It is from the Intel SSD 160 gig combo offers:
