  • updating computer rig.

Hey, I'm about to update my computer and need some advice.

    Current rig:
    core 2 duo e7200
    asus p5b mobo
    2Gig ram
    Geeforce 8800gt 512 mb

What I'm looking to buy right now:
    i5-750 2,66GHz, Socket LGA1156, 8MB,
    Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3, P55,
    Kingston ValueR. DDR3 1333MHz 2*2GB,
    Radeon HD4870 512MB

Is this update worth the money or should I go bigger and more expensive?

The answer to your question requires more questions!

What are your intended uses(what games), how often do you typically keep hardware before upgrading, what is your favorite color? Those sorts of things.

Gaming:Bad company 2, probably gonna get starcraft 2 when they finally release it.
Last upgrade was done well over a year ago and next one, it will depend on how big I go this time and how my economy looks in the future.

Color? Oh I don't know.. Rather like pink and purple..

If it were me, I'd get a C2Q, get 4GB of RAM and a better video card. The i5 is nice but most games seem to be more GPU dependent anyhow. You'd save money on a motherboard too.

Agreed. Or just add another 2 GBs of RAM and upgrade the video card to a HD4870 (example).

            Looks pretty good man.
Not sure about the RAM or what you have avaiable to you, but make sure the ram has good heatsinks, and you might be able to buy 1600MHz speed.
How is your stock on the Radeon HD5000 series over there? Like the 5850?
I ask because I'm really feeling people are going to be needing a 5000 to really crank up Bad Company 2.
