just want to know....besides no microsoft tech support is there any other downside to buying an OEM operating system? Product key is still ok and everything right?

    Re: Win 7 OEM

It only works for a single hardware config, so if you upgrade, you can't move that copy with you.

in my experience with vista oem, you are ok with most upgrades. A change to the cpu or motherboard will probably require you to call in and get an approval

        Re: Win 7 OEM

I ran Vista OEM and now on Win7 OEM.
And who needs MS tech support when you have TG :D :D (and other forums)

Save your money and go OEM.

Agree with Bamboo, whenever I have any tech issues, this is usually my first stop.

I've called in and reactivated 3 or 4 times with no problem, essentially they ask if the software is installed on only one computer and then approve it.
