This is from CES, but looks like pretty soon we are going to want one place to have all our talking about the next gen Nvidia. Hopefully some more news will slip out before the end of the show.

Watching the Nvidia webcast right now. Wish they'd get on with it! Don't care at all about Tegra. Bring on the Fermi!

EDIT: Well that was big waste of time. They barely mentioned the new GPU - only saying that it's in volume production and to stop by the booth to see a sneak peak. No dates, no benches, no nothing.

      I hear ya Spyder.
I just got home and excitedly read through the Engadget Liveblog post:
Live from NVIDIA's CES press event

All the way to the end, and that was all he said. Screw Nvidia. They know millions of people where sitting on the edge of their seats hoping for full details. And we didn't get crap.

I'm still thinking this is going to be the next 2900XT/GeForce FX. I hope I'm wrong...

I'm ever so close to buying a 5850 now. I mean another 2 months? That's ridiculous.

I'm thinking that too almost. But a quick look at the 5870 cards on newegg and other places show they are still all over $400, and they are all stock coolers. Won't be any hint of rebates or really good sales for a long time either, since they have no competition.

Fudzilla did have this posted this morning, and peaked my interest:

Powercolor releases its PCS+ HD 5800 series

Looks like a good aftermarket cooler. Looking forward to seeing a price.

                Latest news just out:

Fermi gets benched in Far Cry 2

                and

NVIDIA Fermi / GF100 architectural details revealed

That 2nd link has a bunch of links to like Anandtech for their views.
Video is interesting, but sucks that no one knows what the older card is. Some say it is a 285, others a 5800 ati card.

Hardware Canucks have a great article on the GF100
                  http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/revie...00-microscope/
Very good read and it makes the 5xxx series look... not so high end.

I read that this morning. Not convinced. They kind of sort of compared what they thought it might do.

                    I WANT HARD NUMBERS.

But even then, as all the articles have said, bottom line is going to come down to price, regardless of power. If they pull the same thing they did with the 280, where it started out at $550 and up, and you know ATI is going to lower the price on the 5870, I don't see them selling a ton. Remember when that same thing happened and companies like EVGA (I think was one of them) were giving buyers cash refunds because everyone was so pissed they had paid that much.

The card is going to have to release in the mid $400s to sell like hotcakes, which Nvidia never does.

I read an article awhile back where the product manager for Fermi said they were going to price point the cards around the 5800 series.

Re: NVIDIA Shows GeForce GF100 Fermi Video Card

Well maybe while nvidia is redesigning GPUs they might redesign their pricing so that people will actually buy these things. If I'm able to get enough cash over the summer I'll be looking into a fermi card fro sure.

Another thing that has me bugged is how hot and power hungry it is looking like these are. Seems like most things when a new gen comes out where they do a die shrink and other upgrades, they get better, not worse. Look at how much better each Intel Tick Toc has been over the last couple of years. Even ATIs stuff is getting better. All the articles talk about how hot this thing is going to be.

Yeah, I'm worried about the heat of the GF100 and the overall board temperatures that will be produced. If I decide to upgrade to a DX11 card after price wars settle then I might seriously consider going for a water-cooled system.

Wow, right after we talk about it here, looks what gets posted:
Fermi to be the hottest single chip ever

They must be stalking TG

                              Also posted:

Partners to get Fermi cards in February

I have a feeling it won't be till late April/May before we see enough of these in stock to be able to choose from at an acceptable price.

                              EDIT:
While looking through my RSS this morning also found:
