  • Distorted sound with FRAPS

As you may have guessed, I have been recording video of game play using the FRAPS software. However, any and all sound recorded by FRAPS is distorted. An example is below, I apologize for your ear drums.

I am recording sound from Realtek HD Audio Input, FRAPS is set to "Detect best sound input." I am rather stumped as to why this occurs. Does anyone know where to even start when addressing this problem?

Start by lowering your "Stereo Mix" slider on the volume control panel. I have Realtek HD as well and my slider is set to the second hash mark from the bottom.

The "Stereo Mix" slider seems to be disabled. I do not know how to re-enable it either.

What about from the Windows volume control? Is it disabled there too?

will Fraps let you change recording device to "Wave"?

No it will not let me change from "Default (Realtek Audio Input)" unless I missed something with FRAPS.
