  • Help my new build please...

I am going to pull the trigger on a new build in about a week's time. I am hoping you guys can look over this and tell me where I am spending too much and where I may not be spending enough.

Note, I will be keeping my existing 4870 vid card and case and HDDs. Also note, I have two PSUs in the wishlist, as I am undecided between the two. Help me decide, please.

    Thanks!

    3) Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine.

Are you planning on doing a RAM disk on any of your hard drives? If not I think the 6gigs of Ram might be a bit much. You could cut that down to four. Windows 7 doesnt use hardly any (assuming that you use Win7) and most programs dont use more than 4 gigs of ram afaik. Other than that though I would get rid of the last PSU on the list because you wont need it. The first one will cover everything you need for 10 bucks cheaper, its the same one I have and it works like a charm. Granted its only 10 bucks, but why spend it if you dont need too.

Dredge he is going 1366 with tri-channel so the 6gb is appropriate. I don't see why you should pay that much however. What does that ram do that justifies the price hike over other options like the following?

Not too familiar with that SSD - must be a new one. Speeds look good and has TRIM support. If it has a reliable controller then that looks good.

Power Supply wise - that price difference is huge is you take advantage of the sale on the Antec running till the 10th.
