  • Dual monitor

Hi, wonder if you could help please?.

I have just had a new motherboard installed with on board graphics card. Asus M489GTD PRO/USB3

I have a 8800gtx as my main display, but I can't seem to find/enable onboard video for my second monitor, can it be done or do I need a second video card like my old computer had?

    Advice greatly recieved

    Thanks

Your 8800 has connectors to allow you to hook up another monitor.

To run dual, you have to use both outs on your gfx. card. Then go to your display options or the Nvidia Control Panel and select to extend your desktop onto that monitor.

I see, but if I did this and say played a game, Would I lose my second screen becuase of what the graphics card is showing IE game?

If thats the case I would have to put my old at card back in?

I like to have one for game and other for msn and teamspeak etc.

            What he said!! LOL

Negative, the game will play on your primary screen and TS and secondary programs (Fraps, Precision, etc) can be left to display on the second monitor.

Which is exactly what I do and being able to directly access temp numbers in game has kept me from frying this card more than once.

Err, on some games, your secondary screen might not show your desktop. It may just go blank.
