It seems like there's more news about the pratfalls of the iPhone and its creator than about the features of the phone. So here's a place to collect stories about it.

Spoof ad of the iPhone 4:

Iliana: "You're a great friend but if we're ever chased by zombies I'm tripping you."

A bumper for that thing is 25 pounds? Isn't that around $40 US? Ridiculous.

        Re: iPhone controversy

I pre-ordered through the Apple store and got the phone a couple days before release day...

So far I have dropped the phone from about 14" off the ground and that resulted in chips in the top left corner of the "20x stronger than plastic" glass they use. I have had TONS of dropped calls because I'm not "holding the phone right". I have accidentally hung up, activated speakerphone, initiated facetime connections, and put calls on hold due to the proximity sensor not recognizing my head. Maybe I'm not using my head properly when talking on the phone?

I think Apple makes great hardware, but my impression of them as a company is that they are about as evil as they come.

Had I not already sold my 3GS on eBay, I would have returned the iP4.

I'm almost ready to dig out my old Motorola StarTac.

            At least it worked!!

I'm actually at a loss for what to do. I'm terribly disappointed in this thing, but somehow I doubt they would let me return it with chips in the glass. I was so frustrated with Apple over this that even though it's been making me money, I sold every share of AAPL I had.

I do plan on unlocking it, my 3GS was unlocked and jailbroken. As for going to a Droid, I think I'll pass. I'm not a big fan of that hardware. I *AM* considering switching over to an Android platform, but definitely not the Droid.

I also should say that AT&T has been great. I really have no problems with them up here in Rhode Island (don't have any issues with Verizon either though, I used them for years until I bought my 3G).

Can't I just get some sort of implantable phone in my head? At least that way I can't "hold it wrong".

FWIW the droid is outdated hardware at this point. Vulcan is right about the better service though, ATT just plain sucks as a carrier.

As far as android devices go these days, My money would be on the Nexus 1, EVO, Droid X, or one of the Galaxy S models coming out this/next month (AFAIK TMO, Verizon and Sprint are all going to be carrying a variant of the Galaxy S). All of them are sporting 5MP+ cameras, 1GHz processors and android 2.2 capable. If you dont mind waiting longer for power, rumor has it that the first dual core snapdragons will be out by christmas.

I'm kind of liking those Vapor4 iPhone 4 cases. If I end up keeping my phone that will likely be the way I go to protect it.

I just today was looking into the HTC Driod Incredible today, when I got to looking at the Droid X....that Droid is a HUGE phone! I'm glad I am not on AT&T, because I would have definitely bought an iphone instead of the BB Storm.

I'd offer to send you my Storm if I got a new phone Apo, but I don't think it likes to play with AT&T service :)

man I have had no issues and I am in a rural area. No droppped calls, no damage.. but I cased my phone up ASAP, facetime is sweet for talking to distant family and phonese....I love my Iphone 4. I have noticed the head sensor thing, but it is random and it is the opposite problem, my screen stays off thinking its still near my head, which is ok because the phone disconects when the other person hangs up. (disregard my typos, trying to type on laptop in bed in dark lol)

So any damage to that pretty case would be referred to as, ahem, Vapor-wear? :p
