  • Intel T3400 Mobile processor running 84 degrees C

Is this normal? It is running in a Vista system, 32bit. Any ideas how to get it to cool down?

Is that the temperature while the CPU is under high utilization or idling?

Mobile CPUs sometimes allow higher temps than desktop variants.

cpu-world says the max temp is 100C, so it shouldn't explode into flames. If it was going to explode it would likely lower its frequency and voltage to help keep the temperature down before it did so and you would likely notice the associated slow down in responsiveness(are you noticing this sort of behavior?)

If you want to make it cooler you might try lowering the voltage either via the BIOS or software. Increasing airflow through the system should help as well. Removing dust or increasing the volume of air moving(laptop cooler).

I am getting a similar problem, so I bought a cooling station. And I second the suggestion to clean it.
