  • ASUS psad2-e Premium Mob w. Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz -- Worth Rebuilding?

Note: this is NOT a "For Sale" post...

I am trying to assess the value of a 6-year old ASUS PSAD2-E Permium Mob with a 3.0Ghz Pentium 4 chip and an equally ancient video card.

Is this the foundation for a useful system or something far surpassed by a new $600 system?

I think the answer is junk, but wish to be certain.

IMO, it is junk. Yes it could serve as a HTPC on some level if you are sure the environment is good for that toaster-of-a-chip known as the Prescott core Pentium 4. Otherwise, you're sucking down way more power than most modern HTPCs, are noisier, and probably can't even do HD videos.

You may have a LGA775 socket mobo, but I doubt ASUS has released a BIOS patch so it can take any of the Core 2 chips (can't check now since ASUS's website is down for maintainance).
