  • iPhone 3G Speed Test: iOS 4.0 versus iOS 4.1

I know we had a thread somewhere that talked about the Iphone 3g and I think BigC and some others were talking about how slow it was after upgrading to 4.0. Well, it looks like 4.1 fixes it a bit, and Gizmodo.com has a video head to head of the action:

I never did upgrade, still running 3 something. I'm actually on the fence right now trying to decide if I should upgrade to a new 4, or just replace the batter for like $15 and hold out another 8-9 months for the next version. I am thinking I would rather spend the money on my new aquarium or a new TV.

But regardless, some of you might be sticking with an Iphone 3g and still holding on to 3.0 OS as well.

Is this where I jump in and tell you to go Android?

What's the point of waiting for next year's iPhone? The hardware won't change significantly.

True, but ATT doesn't have anything good Android last I heard. Nothing like the Droid or the stuff sprint has.

Doesn't AT&T have one of the Samsung Galaxy S variants?

On AT&T it's the Captivate. My wife has the Galaxy S on Sprint (Epic) and it's really nice (if you like keyboards - I went with the Evo).

Captivate is AT&T's best Android phone.

I have a 3g and I hate it with a passion. Really want to get an android, unfortunately there aren't that many in Canada yet.

Aren't you still in the DFW area? There's no faster or more reliable network around here!

When I was in DC last week, I finally experienced the crappy side of AT&T, but we don't have to deal with that here.

Yeah, I mean out in the podunks I'm still getting 3G coverage which is a plus. I live in a small city, and I'm getting around 3mb/500k.
