She'll have the prospect of sitting in jail to now consider, too. I'd have charged her with aggravated assault for throwing the transformer at the guy, among others things for the destruction of property.
That said, looking at a couple of reviews and analyses of the writing, this guy and his general argument looks like yet another misguided screaming of "AMERICA HAS LOST ITS MANNERS".
After reading some of his blog posts, articles, and general fanfare, I just have trouble taking him seriously. His general decision on whether or not someone is "angry" seems to depend more on whether or not he (politically) agrees with them and less on what they actually do and say. Seems like a reasonable observation for me to make when he seems preoccupied with solipsistic arguments about the nature of his style of anthropology as science...yet has to go through the publisher Encounter Books (go through their book list and decide for yourself whether or not they're a truly academic and scientific source) to express his observations.
And I'm going to mention, while it's largely a fallacious and meaningless statement to make, that it's downright stupid that the first truly reasonable critique I could find of his book (aside from the Amazon reviews interestingly enough) came from the managing editor of Playboy.
