  • A REAL Day Without a Mexican!

    http://cbs11tv.com/topstories/local_...097175602.html

If it's successful, and talking to many people, it sounds like it just might be, this could be VERY interesting...

And if you haven't seen the film, it's excellent. Humorous, and yet so serious. I highly recommend it: A Day Without A Mexican

They are planning the same thing here in PHX. I think it's risky for the Hispanic population though. They might not have the economic impact they think they will and if they don't there goes a big hole in the argument that if we didn't have illegal immigrants our economy would be severely damaged. It's risky for sure in my opinion

Yeah, if I were organizing it, I'd worry that too many of the hard workers just aren't willing to take the day off. They've been pushing it hard via the web, IMs, text messages, Spanish radio and now it's getting mainstream media attention. I can see it going either way...

Re: A REAL Day Without a Mexican!

Well, tomorrow's the big nationwide illegal alien boycott, and here's how a Border Patrol union is responding:

        Border Patrol to Americans:
        Jim Kouri

On May 1, the US Border Patrol Agents Local 2544 will be doing their part to offset any adverse impact on the American economy as a result of the upcoming illegal aliens' boycott. Local 2544, which represents Border Patrol agents in Arizona, vows to make big-ticket item purchases of computers and other expensive items on May 1.

"We wish all the illegal aliens would take their May 1 'protest' a step further, and completely remove themselves from the country," say Local officials.

"You have been invaded, America. There are reportedly 20 million illegal aliens in this country now, and the number could be much higher."

Border patrol agents state plainly that these people are not supposed to be here and nobody knows who they are.

"Our president, George W. Bush, is doing nothing more than winking at them and promising them a huge amnesty program," Local 2544 officials said.

Meanwhile, two border-state governors have recently declared their borders "disaster areas" because many of the people running the federal government sit on their hands, frozen in fear, and they refuse to address this problem in any meaningful way. 40% of the people still in Mexico say they want to come here.

"We try every day to stem this massive wave of illegal immigration, but we are overwhelmed, ill-equipped, underfunded, and sold out by politicians. We lost this battle years ago," officials said in a press release.

Border patrol agents have attempted to get their message out to the American people, but the monolithic news media ignore what they have to say about the illegal immigration issue.

"Thousands more illegal aliens make it into [the United States] every day. We simply cannot stop them. We don't even have a reliable two-way communications system in the border patrol. Many times, if an agent gets caught up in a bad situation in a remote area, he or she is on their own," claim members of Local 2544.

While the federal government and Washington lawmakers tell they American people that they are beefing up border security, the men and women on the frontlines know the sad truth: "There is no way to call for backup. It's inexcusable. Our vehicle fleet is falling apart, with many patrol vehicle in excess of 100,000 or 200,000 very hard miles. We are constantly told there is 'no funding' for new vehicles, so we continue to drive unreliable junk year after year after year."

Take it from the troops on the front lines America -- the borders of this country are completely out of control.

"Don't listen to the smooth-talking pinheads who tell you otherwise," said Local 2544 in their press release.

So what can you and I do about this dangerous situation? Well, let's heed the advice of the men and women on the frontlines of the border war:

"We need your help. What can you do? Call your congressmen and senators. Demand that they get our borders under control. Demand that they properly fund the border patrol so we can get the equipment and infrastructure we need to do our jobs. Demand that they give us the freedom to do our jobs (yes, even if it means offending someone). Demand that they back off the all-out assault on border patrol agents' workplace rights (they want to shut our union down and gain the authority to fire us for any reason without any meaningful third party scrutiny)."

And lastly, Border Patrol agents implore Americans to demand that political leaders in the House of Representative and the Senate not support any type of amnesty proposal to reward the lawbreakers already here.

"It will only encourage millions more to come. We had a massive amnesty program in 1986. It was supposed to stop illegal immigration once and for all. It was an unmitigated disaster and only made things worse. Smart countries don't repeat their mistakes."

        _________

Jim Kouri, CPP is currently fifth vice-president of the National Association of Chiefs of Police and he's a staff writer for the New Media Alliance (thenma.org). He's former chief at a New York City housing project in Washington Heights nicknamed "Crack City" by reporters covering the drug war in the 1980s. In addition, he served as director of public safety at a New Jersey university and director of security for several major organizations. He's also served on the National Drug Task Force and trained police and security officers throughout the country.

I agree. Here in Phoenix I do not think that the effect will be felt as they think it will be.

I've seen pictures from the previous protests and honestly I don't believe the protestors are the actual illegals. I don't believe all that many illegal aliens will want to lose a days pay and risk showing their face on national tv, it just doesn't make sense to me.

I know they really don't have much to lose, but I'm not sure they know that. I think the majority of the outcry and organizing is coming from political groups not a grass roots uproar from illegals. I predict the crowds will be full of the usual suspects; international answer, wwp, and lots of legal hispanics, but very little economic impact.

Here in Dallas, they were. Certainly not all of them, but a lot of them... Don't for a second think that all illegal aliens are field laborers. Only 2% of illegal aliens do that... No, they're restaurant owners, cleaning company owners, cab drivers and many, many other "respectable" jobs. Their newfound income enables them to dress like the model in the Gap window when they go out. They're just like any other American in many regards. Despite the fact that many don't pay taxes, despite the fact that almost all are on the road with no driver's license or insurance, despite the fact that their medical plan consists of showing up at the hospital with no ID or anything to get free treatment, despite all that, the REAL danger is what happens once these people are wanted by the police. It doesn't matter if it's for a speeding ticket fine, or for murder, these people live in an entire sub-society that lives outside the law and it's not hard for them to evade justice. Having a segment of society that regularly disregards our laws is BAD for our country. M - o - o - n, that spells bad. (+rep for the first person to get that book/movie reference)

I can't wait until the teachers ask why Paco wasn't in school on Monday. Pretty sure that isn't an "excused release."

Hopefully this means a slow day at work for me tomorrow. :) Seems to me that these protestors are shooting themselves in the proverbial foot if they're trying to pick up sympathizers to their cause.

Or down to Mexico to try some legalized personal pot.

EDIT: Guys, I feel that this is getting a little racist, let's keep in mind we might have a few hispanics in the ranks.

Many schools, and even the State Govt of CA is advocating a walk out. There may be some repercussions in States that still have some sanity, but not much.

Honestly, I don't see this having the intended effect. I think the people organizing and participating in this are, frankly, stupid. What's worse is that I saw one of the "big" organizers on CNN today saying, and I quote, "Slavery has got to end." Excuse me? Slavery? I sure hope that pisses off some people like it did me. I would like to think that idiot will be getting lots of phone calls and letters from angry blacks descended from real slaves.

There's lots of stuff about this whole thing that annoys me; what's really annoying is that I know I'm going to have to deal with it when I walk around campus tomorrow to do my work. At least I'll be able to get a rough count of the causeheads on campus.

Suppose a citizen didn't pay taxes. Or went injured to a hospital. Would he get worse treatment than an illegal? IOW, why should any of us pay taxes or insurance when it's apparently so easy to go without? Is our risk higher than that of illegals?

exactly, if i broke my leg right now, and went to the local H and dint have insurance or a job the would release me in a heart beat to the local clinic for my needs. Dont tell me it doesnt happen cause it does, ive seen and heard it many times. But when a person who doesnt speak english, they could be legals, needs care the hospitol better help or they are in trouble with ACLU NAACP and that one for illegal immagrants.

Now flip that to a middle class white male. Try and get any help for anything and see how "fun" that can be. Try and get finicial aid so you can finish school, good luck.

They just had some guy who was a legal immigrant and mexican complaining about what a hassel this is for his business and others in his area. Saying alot of business cant do anything today because people are just using this day to get out of work and some business might loose to much income to be able to recover.

Im hungry for taco bell now, thx
that sounds like a good idea trooper.
