              He was 18 years old, not that it makes much of a difference. I do think he is subject to criticism as any drunk driver should be.

                      "trying to kill people" might be a bit much. He was likely trying to get home and potentially endangering people's health in the process. One who is trying to kill people would be much better off getting in the vehicle sober, that makes it easier to react when they try to get out of your path.

                        Yes, he intentionally took the steps to get on the road drunk, knowing that he was endangering people's lives.

                          "Boys will be boys" only goes so far. I think it's very fair to throw the book at him. In NJ, he'd be riding a tricycle for a few years.
